Alain Studer (Sports Director for Servette Rugby Club de Genève)
In today’s world, rugby teams depend on an experienced sporting director for support. Servette Rugby Club de Genève are fortunate to count on Alain Studer, former rugby 7s champion with the British Barbarians (only Swiss rugby player to have ever played for their colours) and runner up of the European Shield (1999) with Bourgoin.
Alain Studer started his rugby career in Switzerland at Sporting de Genève (CH), which has since become RC Plain-Les-Ouates. During this time, he crossed paths with Marc Bouchet, current head of general management for Servette Rugby Club. It was not long before Alain Studer travelled south to discover rugby in New Zealand and Argentina. “I wanted a change in scenery and to discover rugby through a different lens.”
Today, Alain is eager to share his experiences with others and share his passion for the game with the people of Geneva. He highlights: “The club is keen on putting in place a strong academy, made up of players highly devoted to the sport. We aim to continuously supply the first team and surrounding clubs with local talent”. His ambition is thus straightforward: he hopes to infuse the culture of rugby into the city of Geneva and build an ever-growing network of loyal fans.
